Sam Dixon

Sam has taken a very round-a-bout journey to work in horticulture. Although he studied the subject while at school – he first worked in Telecommunications for some 15 years before having career changing moment to study captive wild animal management, “which is really zoo keeping” Sam explains.

“I did this due to my love of nature and conservation,” Sam says. Finding it difficult to find a position in a zoo, Sam began working with the Hamilton City Council on an ecological restoration project called Waiwhakareke.

Sam will use his ecological restoration skills to further develop Natural Habitats leadership in Green Roofs and Walls.
