Sustainability was a design imperative at Maungeri Springs, the site’s development provided a unique opportunity to restore indigenous lava flow ecosystems through ecological corridors and biological diversity.

In addition to recreational benefits, Stonefields Wetland also provides important storm water functions for the 160ha catchment which drains into it. Using best practice storm water techniques, this wetland system collects controls and attenuates storm water runoff from the Stonefields development.

This project gained an Excellence accolade from the NZ Institute of Landscape Architects and an exemplary success for Auckland City.
